Have you ever had a cup of coffee and then felt seriously self conscious of your breath? We’ve all experienced bad breath, but with summer upon us it’s time to be on the safe side.
The DentyneSafe Breath Survey (commissioned by Wakefield Research) takes a look at some of the best and worst “breath offenders” so you’re prepared for every moment. The findings are funny but true:
- The truth hurts, and most aren’t ready to tell it to you straight – especially when it comes to breath blunders. 85% of people think it would be harder to tell someone they have bad breath than tell them their zipper’s down. Do you agree?

I have only encountered one person telling me how bad my breath stinks and it was because I had a cavity and the hole held on to food like a well hold water. I felt a little embarassed but was glad it came from someone close and not a friend or coworker.
When I was in high school, my math teacher had a very bad breath, and since I was at the front of the class, he was always coming next to me while speaking. It was awful and I hated math just for that
!
I was with my family at a social function one evening and I had eaten a Basque chorizo for lunch that day. These chorizos stay with you, so you really shouldn’t be the only one in the room that had one for lunch.
Well, my mom kept wanting to move around the room because someone smelled. I was laughing so hard inside. I waited about an hour to let her know it was me!
My daughter is only 2 years old and she wakes up with incredibly bad breath! My husband and I have been surprised by how potent her breath can be.
I went on a date with a guy who was nice and hahdsome, but his breath was so bad that I didn’t want to go on a second date with him.
i was out with this guy and he had bad breath and i told him if he wanted to kiss me he was to have a piece of gum first lol
I am constantly self conscious of my breath. I have really dry mouth and I also smoke cigarettes which make things worse. I always carry gum or mints but sometimes I still get nervous when people are close to me.
I was talking to my kids and whispering something to them and my son told me real loudly that I had bad breath!
Order garlic dishes while dining out always causes me problem of bad breath. I try to use mint to help but it doesn’t help too much in my case. Guess I’ll just have to be more conscious on ordering.
When I was pregnant I had bad heartburn which resulted in bad breathe a lot.
Thanks!
My boss at work drinks lots of coffee and always has that yucky stale coffee breath. Maybe I could share some of this gum with him!
eating garlic and then trying to talk to someone
I’m always afraid I have bad breath. I talk on the phone for a living and I can tell by the end of the night that my breath smells because I can smell it on the phone receiver. I always unconsciously step back from people when I talk to them for fear my breath is overpowering.
Onions and garlic bread don’t mix. Not only causes bad breath but sometimes reaps thru your skin. I smelled like a garlic inferno at a outdoors picnic. Made sure to keep popping the mint Altoids in my mouth.
When my dh and I tried Indian food that had curry as a main ingredient. Our breath suffered afterwards!
I smoke so when I’m out of the house and can’t brush my teeth, I chew gum.
I love onions, but unfortunately no matter how much i brush afterwards the smell likes to linger around awhile!
I love Italian food and tons of garlic…so gum is needed!
I love both garlic and onions. In fact, I use these two ingredients in almost everything I cook. Needless to say, my breath and my family’s isn’t always the freshest.
no stories, we just like gum to stave off hunger!
Not really any stories, just how much gum means to my mother. she quit smoking after about 40 years….and chews alot of gum and does alot of walking. Gum is so helpful to those who quit smoking! Was a lifesaver (literally) for my mom!
