Bake Up Tasty Halloween Treats with HERSHEY’S

If you love fall weather and sweet treats, chances are Halloween just may be your favorite holiday.  It’s definitely ours!

Kick-start your spooky holiday with some fun and delicious Halloween S’mores Bars.   Even the most inexperienced chef can bake up these easy bar cookies!  I made these at my son’s suggestion.  He spotted the orange marshmallows at Walmart and was happy to find a way to use them!

These sweet treats have all of the ingredients of traditional S’mores baked into a bar cookie!  We used pumpkin marshmallows for the orange pop of color, HERSHEY’s Chocolate Chips and HERSHEY Bar pieces to finish these delightful treats.

Halloween S’mores Cookies

Ingredients
5 Tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
6 Tablespoons Shortening
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
2 ½ cups flour
1/2 cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate HERSHEY’S chips
1 cup orange marshmallows chopped in small pieces
3 regular sized HERSHEY’S bars
1-2 packages graham crackers, in squares

Cream butter, shortening and sugar in electric mixer.  Add eggs and vanilla.

Combine baking soda, flour, and salt.  Add to mixture.  Beat at medium speed until combined.  Add HERSHEY’S Chips and marshmallows.  We sprinkled our marshmallows on after scooping the dough to make them more uniform.

Line baking pan with parchment paper.  Then add graham cracker squares so sides are touching to fill the pan.  Add a scoop of batter (approximately 1.5 tablespoons) to each graham cracker square.

Bake in a 375 degree oven for 8 minutes.  Remove and top with HERSHEY’S chocolate.  Allow 30 minutes of cooling time before cutting.

Easy Peasy Homemade BBQ Sauce

My dad has been talking for months about his homemade BBQ sauce.  I’d never made it, so yesterday I whipped up a batch, which literally took 5 minutes.  There are lots of ways you could change this up, by adding some additional ingredients like honey, chipotle, hot sauce or dijon mustard.

This recipe was delicious, not to mention really inexpensive to make.  I’m hooked.  I’ll never buy bottled BBQ sauce again, unless it is free!
